About Us
The Danay's Candy Story
In the
early sixties my father, John, taught me how to
make Vinegar Taffy (it doesn't taste like
vinegar). It was so exciting taking the
taffy in my hands & stretching it until it
turned from beige to a beautiful snow white. All
my family and neighbors loved the taffy, so
whenever I could get permission to make taffy I
would. To this day I still feel the
excitement I felt when I was making my first
batch of taffy.
I started
developing my own recipes in 1972 and taught
myself how to hand dip chocolates. Through a lot
of practice and taste testing I created
the recipes I still use today. Over the next 34
years I raised my family, worked a job and
made candies for all the major holidays
with the dream of one day having my own store.
Now I go to a workplace that I really enjoy
being at: my own candy store.
I named my
business after my beautiful daughter (Danay) and
my "Dee Jays" (caramel pecan patties) are
named after my wonderful son (Darrin J.). Now
I'm a grandmother with 5 beautiful
grandchildren, "Dustin's Caramels" are named
after my grandson; "Jayden's Peanut Butter
Meltaways" are named after one of my
granddaughters. The other three granddaughters (Devyn,
Justice & Trinity) are still trying to pick
their favorite out of all the candies that
grandma makes. We will keep you informed when
they decide, but it may take awhile as Trinity
is only a month old now. I'm still hoping one
will choose the Butter Crunch, as this is my
personal favorite to make and eat!
In March of
2004, we (my husband Dan & I) opened our first
store front in beautiful Orlando, Florida.
We make all of our candy from scratch, with only
the freshest ingredients available. My name is
Lois (the candy maker) and Dan is (the official
taste tester) so if you should have a special
request or any questions, please contact us by
telephone or email.
